The New Amsterdam Trio is an exciting new string ensemble comprising three of America’s preeminent chamber musicians. The idea sprung from a collaboration at Music@Menlo in 2016 to champion repertoire from some of the great classical masters. The trio comprises violinist Yura Lee, violist Brian Chen and cellist Clive Greensmith.
Yura Lee as a soloist has performed with  among others The New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics,  Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, St. Louis, San Francisco Symphonies, and has work with conductors including Christoph Eschenbach, Lorin Maazel, Leonard Slatkin, and Mikhail Pletnev.  As a chamber musician Ms Lee regularly takes part in the Marlboro, Salzburg, Aspen, Ravinia, Caramoor, Verbier Festivals. She has collaborated with many eminent artists including Gidon Kremer, Andras Schiff, Leonidas Kavakos, Mitsuko Ushida and Yuri Bashmet. She is currently a member of the Chamber Music of Lincoln Center New York playing both violin and viola.
Clive Greensmith was a member of the Tokyo String Quartet for fifteen years and performed throughout the world at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, London South Bank, Paris Chatelet, Berlin Philharmonie, Vienna Musikverein and Suntory Hall in Tokyo. He is a founding member of the Montrose Trio with Jon Kimura Parker and Martin Beaver. He has made numerous recordings including the Complete  Beethoven quartets and the Mozart Prussian Quartets with the Tokyo for Harmonia Mundi. He has collaborated with many international artists such as Andras Schiff, Pinchas Zukerman, Alicia de Larrocha, Emanuel Ax, Lynn Harrell and the Emerson Quartet.

Che-Yen Chen (Brian Chen) is a founding member of the Formosa Quartet who won first prize at the 10th London International String Quartet competition.  He has been principal viola of the San Diego Symphony and the Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra. As a chamber musician he has performed in many of the leading chamber music series and festivals, including Caramoor Festival, the Da Camera Society of Los Angeles, Ravinia Festival, Library of Congress, Sante Fe Chamber Music Festival, La Jolla Summerfest and the Seattle Chamber Music Society. As a member of the Formosa Quartet they continue with their chamber music festival in Taiwan
