Lavinia Meijer: New Release of "Arirang" Celebrates 2018 Winter Olympics
Announcing the release of "Arirang," a brand new single by Lavinia Meijer. Her arrangement of Arirang is a tribute to her country of birth and celebrates the upcoming Winter Olympics in South Korea. She will perform this piece, shown here, at several concerts in South Korea in late January and early February.
When Lavinia heard Arirang during her first visit back to South Korea in 2009, it struck herdee ply. "The deep emotional longing in this song is a reflection of my desire to connect with my country of birth. I believe this has happened, also thanks to this beautiful song."
Arirang is more than 2000 years old and seen as the unofficial Korean folk song. It is part of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
